In rural India, where access to structured early childhood education (ECE) is sparse, the developmental deficit begins early and compounds over time. At Shiksham Foundation, we view early education not just as preparation for primary school, but as a critical intervention for social equity.
The Cognitive Divide
Research indicates that children who participate in quality early learning programs are significantly less likely to drop out of primary school. The lack of ECE in rural areas leads to higher grade repetition rates and lower overall literacy.
Our Data-Driven Approach
We implemented a pilot ECE program in 15 villages over the last two years. The results have been compelling.
